About Me

Hi there, I’m Fiona but I’m rarely called that….Call me Fi

Welcome and thanks for visiting my blog 🙂

This is the THIRD version of my blog as I’ve changed a lot over the years and whilst I predominantly blogged about life with autism back when I started writing this blog in 2010 (wow – 7 years ago?!), I have grown and become “older and wiser” since then so the blog has taken more of a personal growth direction.

I am a complex person but all you really need to know about me is:

  • I love God more than anything else, I adore my family and most of the time, I really love my life.
  •  I am naturally a glass-half-empty/wear-my-heart-on-my-sleeve kinda girl but believe that with God’s help and my desire to change, that I can become an optimist and  choose to see good in everyone and everything around me.

N.B: All of my children’s names have been changed to protect their identities so if you know their real names please refrain from using them in any comments you publish to help me to maintain their privacy . Also, please don’t mention our exact location in Australia either so I can continue to protect my babies. X  Thank you 🙂

  5. Hello there!
Just wanted to stop by and say hi. I’m just starting out (both with blogging and spectrummy parenting) and this will be a great place to see how it is done! I’ll add you to my blogroll, thanks again for checking out spectrummymummy!

  6. Hi, I arrived here by accident, I sort of stumbled upon it… 🙂 Interesting posts you have.. I grew up with Asperger Syndrome, now I am grown up and just started my blog. I feel so much better expressing my self this way, since I am not naturally talkative.
My mother was lucky, my brother and sister turned out fine, and they are all socially accomplished, so I was the only odd one out. 🙂 It’s all good though.

  7. Fi,
You had left a comment on my blog….so, I decided to check you out:)
I don’t know if you noticed on my blog, that I am a (former) special education teacher. (now spec. ed consultant) I saw that you have 2 sons on the autism spectrum.
As a teacher I had several students on the spectrum. Some of my funniest memories are with them! A few years ago my grandson (by marriage–because I am way too young to be a grandma. haha!) was diagnosed with autism.
More and more people worldwide are being touched by autism.
I look forward to your blog and your sense of humor:)

    • Hi there,
Wow, a special ed consultant – you people are wonderful! It’s lovely to have “met” someone else that has been touched by autism.
      Welcome 🙂

  10. i am from the philippines and i have a son who has been diagnosed of severe autism. thank you very much for putting up this site. i do hope my mom can read what you have written. she has been complaining about my sons behavior and cannot understand what autism is. all she can say is that my son needs to be disciplined. i am fortunate too that i got support from an individual who is helping me with ABA therapy. God has indeed used your talents to also inspire other people and who has a family member under the spectrum. thank you
